Brrr It’s Cold: Find the Hidden Treasure

I was surprised to hear that while I was away in Texas, the sun happened to be shining over here. Just my luck!

With summer literally around the corner and school out, you might be wanting to find activities for your little ones to do. Spencer is almost three and he likes to fiddle with everything around the house. He’s quite hands on and most of the time, he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty.

If you’re looking for a simple activity for your kids to do, you’ve come to the right place. If you’ve read my post (The Purge), you’ll understand that this was the perfect DIY activity that I came across that helped to remove some of the excess toys out of sight.

It is super simple to do and you’re kids might be a bit surprised to see what they find.

Materials Needed:

  • Bucket
  • Water (to fill the bucket)
  • Toys (I stayed away from anything made of wood or any toys that used batteries)
  • Option: You could add a bit of food colouring to color the water but it might stain the toys

Instructions:

  • Place the toys in the bucket
  • Fill the bucket with water (I filled it about 3/4 full)
  • Put bucket in the freezer
  • Remove the bucket from the freezer
  • Option: You can remove the giant cube of ice from the bucket
  • Give your little ones kid-friendly tools to try to get their toys out
  • Note: This activity is best completed outside
