Are you married? Do you have any kids?
Yes, my husband David and I have been married for five years. We have two kids – Spencer and Emme.
How did you meet your husband?
We met at work. We are both teachers and he was hired on as my teaching partner.
What is your greatest achievement outside of blogging?
I would have answered this question a lot differently before having kids but I would have to say, delivering my kids (I know TMI) and raising them. My best friend once said that after you have your first kid, you feel like you have accomplished so much. You just want to run around high-fiving every mother you see. I couldn’t agree more!
What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? There doesn’t seem like a lot of spare time nowadays. I LOVE being with my family and doing things with my kids. I also enjoy reading, relaxing with my husband and watching a show or two.
What inspired you to start your blog?
Since becoming a mom, I realized how I have been blessed to have close friends that are AMAZING moms. I have learned so much from them and look forward to sharing what I have been learning with others.
How did you come up with the name for your blog?
I’ve recently been calling my little one “Emzies” and Spencer picked up on this and started calling me Momzies which I love. So, I guess he came up with the name of the blog for me.
Name one thing you miss about being a kid.
Living carefree and spending quality time with those I care about.
Name one thing you don’t miss about being a kid.
Being able to stay up late and watching anything I want. My parents were strict while I was growing up (not that it was a bad thing). I guess I enjoy FREEDOM!
Any hidden talents?
I can say the alphabet backwards….thanks to the librarian at my elementary school.
When was the last time you cried?
My dad was recently in the hospital and after spending some time with him, I prayed for him and started to tear up. It’s hard seeing someone who has been so strong in a more fragile state.
What’s your favorite song?
I’m not sure I have a favorite song. “Oceans” by Hillsong has been on repeat lately.
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
Their SHOES!! I think shoes tell a lot about a person.
Where were you born?
Durban, South Africa. The hospital is literally by the beach. It definitely explains my LOVE of warm weather and beaches. Ask my husband, all I ever ask for is to go to a beach with white sand and turquoise water.
What do you do for work?
I started teaching about nine years ago. I am currently a stay at home mom (on Maternity Leave).
