Charcoal: A Great Denim Alternative

A couple of weeks ago I was in H and M and came across charcoal jeans that I fell in love with. When it comes to jeans, I usually opt for the classic, blue jeans, although I’m always on the look out for a gray pair. I once owned light-wash, gray jeans and they were horrendous. I’m not quite sure why I bought them because they were not flattering and you could tell that they were not quality denim. I guess there’s a reason why they say that hindsight is 20-20. That said, denim has evolved over the years and I have come across some light-wash gray denim that I would wear.

If anyone knows me, they know that I love distressed denim. Depending on where you work, distressed denim isn’t always work-appropriate. The pair that I found at H and M isn’t overly distressed and could be worn dressed up or dressed up. I’m all about versatility these days. If something is multi-functional, then I’m on board.

These jeans are great. They’re a darker wash, with a high-waist and a skinny leg. The best part of all is that they are the softest denim. They remind me a lot of the classic Levi 501 but aren’t as stiff and don’t cost as much. I love the coverage that they give and yet, they have a modern cut. These come to the ankle which is more on trend right now. I, personally, love how they hit my ankle and I can wear them with flats or with boots and not have to get them hemmed.
